| Requirements: | Commitment: For most positions, we prefer volunteers who can make a regular time commitment over at least a six month period.
Confidentiality : Volunteers may be exposed to confidential information whose disclosure would be contrary to the best interests of the agency, the patient, the facility and professional ethics. All volunteers will be required to sign volunteer and confidentiality agreements, and take and pass training on the privacy regulations of the Federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
Physical Demands: Ability to lift 25 pounds for the occasional need. |
| Description: | Work in one of our seven PPM health centers. Volunteers can assist with a variety of health center operations, including: - Pulling and filing patient charts, - Designing new displays for the patient waiting rooms, - Answering phones and assisting clients with general questions, - Scheduling appointments, and - Doing community outreach. Volunteers with specific skills and interests are welcome to suggest and take responsibility for special projects that provide positive benefit to the health center and our patients. Volunteers with a long-term commitment will have the opportunity to be trained and to work as patient educators for birth control options counseling. Health Center volunteer positions can also serve as internships for undergraduate and graduate students. |
